2D Toolkit: Anatomy, Contrapposto and pose tracing

Anatomy Overview:
-The human body can be measured in how many heads fit into the vertical height of a person. Most people are around 6-8 heads tall.
-Elbows fall to mid-torso, hands to the middle of the thigh.
-The bottom of the pelvis is in the middle of the body.

Contrapposto; Counter-Pose:
-Breaks rhythm in a pose; the shoulders may be twisted one way, the pelvis the other. Creates dynamic positions.
-Alters the centre of mass in the pose.

Tracing Poses:
When using reference images tracing can be used to create a visual diagram that divides the overarching form of the pose from the visual noise found in costumes, simplifying anatomical forms and granting a simplistic overview of the forms present in the pose.

Using this technique, I was able to trace the form of a character sitting in a squatted posture. I could then use this traced wireframe as a reference to build up my own sketch, which I then added forms over. This allowed me to replicate the pose whilst altering the angle slightly, then drawing forms over the sketch to create a new anatomy over the re-drawn pose.

this method could be useful in gaining an understanding of Anatomy and Contrapposto, as well as adding drawn poses to a mental library that could be drawn upon in future pieces of work.
