Industry Practice: More Development

I have been continually developing our game in Ren'Py. During this, I was able to create functionality for multiple paths to be selected, including in the beginning when deciding which memory to relive. This is not present in our demo version as this path does not have appropriate art for it. I was also able to make it so that the player can input a name, which then displays throughout the game.






I also changed the background of the main menu into the schoolyard environment, changed the icon of the game into a small icon of Crowley and changed the font of the game to "Roman Antique". This font, which I had previously discussed with my group. This font is 100% free to use, and as such is viable for application into our game.



When inputting art into the game, I have had to scale down all images to fit the game's resolution. I also had to troubleshoot to see how I could change a character sprite when talking, as Lydia had developed numerous character sprites for Crowley.


This shows an error that occurred when I first implemented the art for Crowley into the game: as it was not scaled down, the art was very large and clipped off the screen. Additionally, this shows two crowley sprites overlapping, with one sprite holding the cane in his other hand. This occurred because, when initially implemented, I did not hide the previous sprite when displaying a new one.


The following are other screenshots of the game with final art implemented. In these, the main character is referred to as "Jericho". This is the default name I have set for the game, which will display if the player does not input a custom name.


This shows my art for the biology teacher. I had to scale the art down to get it to fit into the screen as desired.



When placing in the art for other characters, such as Crowley and the teacher's background sprite, I edited the images to create varients which are cut off at the table, giving the illusion that they are standing behind the table and integrating them into the scene. 


When placing in character art for the bathroom, no edits were needed as they were not standing behind anything. The final art for the bathroom design was based on my initial design used in the alpha build of the game.
